Before you decide

Frequently asked questions

  • Costs vary depending on your property, heating requirements and the system specified. We provide a clear, itemised estimate after assessing your home.

  • Not always. During the survey we check whether your existing radiators and insulation are suitable, and recommend any upgrades that would improve efficiency.

  • Yes. Modern heat pumps are designed to extract heat from the outside air even in sub-zero temperatures, keeping your home warm throughout the year.

  • In most cases installation falls under permitted development, but there are exceptions for listed buildings and some locations. We will advise you as part of the process.

  • A typical installation takes two to four days, depending on the size of the system and any additional work required.

  • Depending on the system you are replacing, a heat pump can lower your running costs over time, particularly when paired with a well-insulated home.

  • From your initial enquiry through to survey, design and installation, most projects are completed within a few weeks.

  • Eligible homeowners in England and Wales may be able to access a Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant towards an air source or ground source heat pump installation. The scheme provides upfront grants to help reduce the cost of qualifying installations, but eligibility criteria apply.

Grants and Support

Boiler Upgrade Scheme Support

Eligible homeowners in England and Wales may be able to receive £7,500 towards a qualifying air source or ground source heat pump installation through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. The scheme is designed to reduce the upfront cost of replacing fossil fuel or electric heating with a low-carbon heating system.

Solaris Energy can help you understand whether your property may qualify and guide you through the process. The scheme is installer-led, which means an MCS-certified installer applies for and redeems the voucher on behalf of the property owner.

Plan early

Better outcomes start at design stage

Bringing Solaris into the project early helps ensure heat-loss calculations, plant space, pipe routes, hot water demand, electrical requirements and commissioning are considered from the outset. This supports better coordination, fewer late-stage changes and a heat pump system designed to perform properly from day one.
